All you need to know about TURBODECODER ® HU66 1 g.

After many years of work in the field of designing tools for unlocking home locking systems, we have decided to develop and offer to many locksmiths around the world an innovative, high-tech and easy-to-use tool for the automotive locksmith sector.
2011 is the year we finished this project and the first tool we named TurboDecoder was inspired by the rotational movement of its elements. We have added the HU66 designation by referring to the code for signing the key blanks given by company Silca. Over time, we have made many mechanical improvements as well as selecting special steels so that we can offer you a fully finished product. Here it is ! The original !

On this post we will show you the tool, its components  and video instructions how to use it for open and decode those VAG vehicles locks. We will explain the best practices with which you will be able to use the capabilities of this locking tool to offer your clients a quality locksmith service.

The key profile is HU66 / Silca / and the instrument can fit in any door or ignition lock od Audi, VW, Seat, Skoda, Porsche, Lamborgini automobiles.

The tool will open only those locks which are 1 st generation. Usualy those locks are used from 2000 up to 2005 year and we discover that SKODA use them in their Octavia model 2012, 2013 on their door locks. The ignition locks on all those VAG automobiles are 1 st generation so the tool will open them from 2000 up to the moment they use mechanical ignition lock.

In order to understand the locks generation and their orientation please use our VAG tester key. It come with your turbo decoder HU66.

  The tester key has 2 marks colored red and green on it metal blade. We call them stop points. We have noticed that on the locks 1 st generation the key can be inserted deeper than on the 2 nd lock generation. We have used that fact to give you information how to discover the lock generation very fast. Additionaly the tester key can give you information how the lock is orientated. This is important to know before to insert your Turbo Decoder into the lock.

What the orientation mean? – the VAG locks have one protective anti power system and it make the rotor to rotate when it is forced by wrong key or by any force tool. That rotation is limitet to the rotor and doesnt affect on tle lock so it will not be opened when the clutch is engaged. That mean you can see both sides / left and right / lock orientation. The tester key will let you see that thanks to the plastic head orientation marks wich are one red and 2 green points.

How it work –

Insert the tester key into the VAG lock. Look at the metal part stop point. If the key stop with the red point touch the face of the lock – you have to deal with 1 st generation lock. If it stop with the green point – the lock is second generation. If both dots are away from the lock face  – no information. In this case extract the tester , reverse it and insert again . Now you will see some of the described scenarios.

On your Turbodecoder we have engraved one orientation point over the Pin bar activator wheel or middle wheel. You will see that sign with writen “orientation” . Use that orientation point to orientate the tool when you insert it into the lock and ensure that it direction / left or right / match with the points of the plastic head of your tester key. That info from the tester key must be taken at the moment when your red metal stop point touch the face of the lock.

sample : red point on the key touch the face – look the plastic points – if they are on the left side – insert the tool with it orientation sign to the left or vice versa – right plastic points – insert the tool with the orientation sign to the right.

Now you know how to orientate your device!

Before to proceed to the opening please clean the lock with WD40 or something similar! That is ipmportant to ensure the free movement of the code wafers / discks / . The turbo tool doesnt work when some wafer is blocked or not freely moving.

To unsert the tool into the lock turn the turbo wheel all the way to the right, push the pin bar activator wheel all to the front. Get the tool on the ring of that pin bar activator wheel and insert the key blade. Be gentle and avoid forcing it . If the lock is in a good mechanical status the key blade must slight in pretty easy.

Now , when your blade is all the way in the lock pull back only the pin bar activator wheel with out moove back the all tool.

In this moment , if the tool is fully inserted and if the orientation of it is correct you can start the manipolation.

  • with the fngers apply an tension force on the tension wheel to the right
  • keep the tension and start rotate the turbo wheel to the left, keep rotating till the indicative line on it match to the 1st stop point engraved on the pin activator wheel! During the rotation of the turbo wheel you will feel the resistance that is an sighn of correct tool work.
  • once you reach the 1st stop point stop the rotation and turn all the way back  the turbo wheel.
  • now change the tension direction on the front tension weel and apply left rotating tesnion force.
  • keep it forced and rotate the turbo wheel again to the left till it line reach the 1st stop sector.
  • turn it all the way to the right and then release the turbo wheel tension force. Now you have made all cycle of the manipolation.

Repeat those steps for 20 times! each time stop to sector one with the turbo wheel.

If the lock is still closed / not turned / do all the same exept the stop secor ! Just increase the rotation of the turbo wheel to your second stop sector. follow the same procedure by stop at number 2 for 20 more times. If no opening do the same job but now point the line to the third stop sector. keep doing it 20 more times. Finaly go to stop point 4 if no opening happen. You need to pump to number 4. Do it 15 to 20 times. If all procedure was made in that correct order, if the lock is in good mechanical condition – in some moment of the procedure the lock should be open.

At that point you have to extract the tool from the lock. In order to do that correctly please follow those simple steps:

  • turn the turbo wheel all to the right till it stop by it self.
  • rotate or keep the key blade in neutral lock position / big part of the cases it is vertical .
  • push the pin activator wheel all the way to the front 
  • estract the tool from the lock.

Those are the main steps to use the Turbodecoder for unlock the doors of VAG group cars.

Lock Decoding procedure

When the lock is opened with the Turbodecoder we can proceed with code reading. Te code can be readed for one reason – if we wish to cut a mechanical key. The cutting procedure can be made with CNC locksmith cutting machine. Any key has a numerical code and when that code is inserted into the key cutting machine it can cut it on a key blank. This turbodecoder can give you the code necessary for reproduce a working mechanical key.

How it work:

after the opening if the loksmith want to read the code he must to do few additional steps. Lets start from the opening. The tool is in the lock and it turn it from left to right. To get a good and clear code the operator must turn the lock in some fo the directions – left or right but NOT in neutral lock position.

Let it be left turn direction. Keep the tool to turned to the left, do one final pump on the turbo wheel till it line come to stop point 4. now shake the tool by follow the plane of the key blade. With that shaking the wafers impress the sliding pins on the turbodecoder. They transfer one precise altitude to the pins and that altitude is more easy to read after. After you finish with that go on neutral lock position and follow the extraction procedure.

When the tool is out of the lock pull back the pin activator wheel then rotate the turbo wheel to the stop position number 4 . Do not rotate it back , just start the pin altitude reading. Its good to refer the top pin surfice to the reference line wich is along the key blase.

 First line corresponds to cut / code / 2. Second line is the measure of cut / code 3 / and third line show you the cut or code 4 / depest code from the combination / 

 The lock has 8 code plates:

and each plate can have 4 heights. The code lock code is actually a line of 8 digits, with any number in the row being from 1 to 4.
An example code for Audi is 13242123

 

The code of the lock is: code X positon 1 / A /, code x position / B /, code x position 3 / A / and so on. at the end both sides A+B or 13242123

If the operator knows this code, it could cut a mechanical key to replace the lost original. One of the main advantages of Turbodecoder is that after successful unlocking of the lock, the operator can read the code from the tool itself!

Few advises about pin reset of the Turbodecoder:

  • use only original set up devices – they are made for precise reseting of your pins and if some other tools be used it is the risk of tool damages!
  • insert your reset tool as it is show here.
  • note that the pins slide pretty easy and if you apply any unusual force its can easy bend or broke your instrument!
